My Dad is the best – he instilled a love of good food & good wine in me & always insisted I try everything once… you can’t say you don’t like something unless you’ve given it a go.
My Dad has kept his spirits up even after having a condition that’s severely reduced his mobility — nevertheless, I’m sure he wouldn’t say no to a hamper… :)
Rather than say how amazing my own dad is, I’ll give a shout-out to my husband, who is such a fantastic, hands-on dad that it makes all my friends jealous. My two little kids are lucky kids indeed!
My father is my idol. He’s everything I inspire to be. He’s such a kind, brave, funny and intelligent man. I’d be extremely lucky to marry a man that is even only half the man my father is. <3
My husband is a new father to our 8 month old and has taken to being a dad like a duck to water – he takes her to an early morning swim class each sunday and doesn’t complain when walking up and down the hall for hours to calm her to sleep. He whips her away to give me a little ‘me’ time after his day at work – and although i spend this time doing things for them, i really do appreciate the break! A hamper would make his first fathers day extra special, although spending another day with his new daughter will bring the same large smile to his face.
My lovely Dad died on Christmas Eve 3 years ago, but I’d like to nominate my husband John for your great prize.
He’s a great dad – kind, loving and always ready to lend a hand when needed and he’s a dab hand on giving ‘ lectures’ too !!
A great all rounder.
My Dad is the man ultimately responsible for my spud obsession and, really, for the very existence of The Daily Spud – how amazing is that?
My Dad is amazing…he’s gone from the quintessential middle aged husband to cleaner, chef, story book reader, shopper and foot rubber as my mum has gone through chemo.
my dads a wonderful , old fashioned gentleman in every sense.he is a terrifc grandad and is always there when we need advice, tips or just a friendly chat!
my dads a legend ! helps me fix the car, plays pitch and putt with me, he is all round more like my best friend, i can count on him for anything
My Dad is amazing because he has never once complained about not getting anything for Fathers Day!
my dad is wonderful, the best dad anybody could wish for, he would do anything for his family and always puts us first !
My Dad is amazing and would really love this Hamper for Fathers day!
My Dad would do anything for my sisters and I. He’s always there if we need advice or help with anything and never complains! He’d stop the World turning if it made us happy!
My dad is AMAZING! all my life he has been my best friend, and our relationship has strengthened even more in the past few years! He calls me his rock and I call him my hero. He has supported me through everything, and shows me how to be a good person. He does so much for all his 4 young kids all on his own. I have been abroad for 4 months and I miss him so much. I’d love to treat him as he never does anything for himself and he deserves it and could do with a boost.
I will be home in time for fathers day and I’m really looking forward to spending time with my Dad :)
My dad- not amazing at all!
My husband – absolutely brilliant, he cooks, cleans, no probs with diy or gardening, looks after the kids, does school runs, bathtime, bedtime etc (I do some of those too :) All round great fun and THE BEST DAD EVER. Even after 8 yrs of marriage and 13 yrs together, he still gives me butterflies in my tummy!
My dad is my hero, no matter how crap life gets I know he’s the only man I’ll trust with my life and look upto. He’s my rock, so kind and unassuming and I love my dad with all my heart
My Dad was truly amazing, and is greatly missed…
My Dad is the most kind patient man ever. He has 4 daughters & is definitely blessed amongst women. It is only as we (his 4 girls) grow older that we appreciate how much he does for us.
My dad is the best I am so lucky to have him as my dad
My dad is a great man, got me into sports young and I’ve never looked back!
My dad might not have been the best father in the world but he taught me to be responsible and independent. He introduced me to music and photography that are my two greatest passions and showed me that man’s weakness is only a part of its strength and for that I am thankful to him.
My dad is an amazing father! I have always felt very blessed to have him in my life. Growing up I knew I could go to him for anything and he would be there for me with unconditional love and support. I have heard some fathers are not the best when it comes to interacting with daughters, however, I am proud to say my dad is. He would do anything for me and my sister, whether it was playing Barbie’s or helping paint our nails for school dances. He is one of the cool dads, the kind who would say funny things to my friends like, ‘Say hi to my peeps!’ My friends always wanted to talk to him or go to the store with him. He is just a fun guy to be around. He is also a very hands-on dad who is not only there for the fun times but the hard times as well. Growing up I didn’t always appreciate him the way I should have. I will admit I didn’t always listen. However my dad has the patience of a saint and unconditional love for me! And for that my dad is my hero
my dads great, love him to bits, pure and simple :)
I love my Dad because he instilled independence in us and taught me how to look after myself. At 75 he’s still working away at what he loves and there is a deep mutual repect. Thanks, Dad – and thanks sourgrapes!
I think the fact that my dad raised me and my two siblings on his own is pretty amazing. My mother died after a long illness and he managed to keep everything together, guiding and supporting us into our adult years. He is also the ultimate handyman, who can do anything from building a house to building a motorbike. His current project is a complete rebuild of his 70s Moto Guzzi. I don’t recall him ever having to hire somebody to fix something in our house. I would love to win this prize so I could give my dad an extra special gift this father’s day.
My dad doesnt hug or say he loves us but he was always there to give me a lift anywhere and anytime. Bought lovely little presents when we got good marks in a test. Spent 3 days building my wardrobes from ikea. He brags about us to his friends. Took me out driving when in was only learning, I only now know how terrifying that must have been to him. He tries to cook dinner but isn’t the best yet. If that’s not love I dont know what is

By the way my dad is amazing, best father I could ever ask for :) He would definitely love this prize !
What can i say He is my dad and I suppose I should be saying it to him directly. He is Cool he has guided us without ever getting too freaked out when we went astray and has always been there for us,but like I say he is my Dad……..
My Dad is the awesomest!
my dad is so amazing, he has always been there for me, never given out, always supported me, he is the best dad I have ever had.
My Dad sadly passed away 2 years ago after a lifetime of illness due to a kidney problem and complications after a transplant- he was amazing from start to finish- always making sure we were sorted for school, dinner when we arrived home and bringing us to sports when we were not able to go solo! We know it was never easy for him, but he was so proud of us- he wanted to travel the world- but sadly that was not possible with his condition… When my brother and I decided to move to Ireland from our native Poland, he pretended not to be sad but he knew this would be an amazing opportunity. When we chatted on skype and sent him home photos he soon began to realise what a beautiful country that had adopted us… he loved our regular visits home sampling unheard of Irish whiskies and food- especially cheeses! We know you can now see all those amazing places Dad from above on high- we hope you are happy with the men we have grown to become- your forever grateful sons. You gave us so much – everything you had was ours… we will always love you and know that you are now so close to us here in Dublin. And yes I know it was your Divine intervention that helped me achieve such a top mark in my Nursing degree entry assessment a few weeks back- you are working miracles for us and there are no words that ever say how much we thank you. When our small brother comes to visit us at end of June with our dear Mum, we would love to celebrate Father’s Day over some nice foods from Fallon and Byrne! xxx
my dad had a serious stroke this time last year. he lost the use of his left side and is only now after a year slowly getting better. he is getting around using a walking aid, and needs our constant help. he is only a young man, just 55.
he was such an active man, always doing this or that out around the yard and going here and there, and now he cant get out and can just walk around the house on his aid with our help.
but despite all this his spirits are high and hes nearly allway in good form. so i think he deserves a prize for being so strong and working so hard to overcome this hard obsticle life has dealt him.
My Dads involved with horses and works 7 days a week 52 weeks of the year, rain or shine they have to be fed and mucked out everyday. He never complains, mum got sick earlier in the year and he took on her role cooking, cleaning washing e.t.c. He is just a great Dad and is always in good form.He loves a glass of wine in the evening and would tell us stories from his childhood.Hes not only my Dad hes my BESTFRIEND
My Dad (currently known as Grandad) is my hero.. I have had such a lucky life and was truely blessed with my dad.. I know how to put a cabinet together, do the garden, fix a plug, use a drill, plumb a sink, turn turf, use my common sense, a whole number of skills and i can thank my dad for them all.. He’s also given me valuable life experience that i can now pass on to my 4 kids, they think there mam is gr8 but they think their Grandad is the greatest!!
My Da is my best friend – what more can I say?
Daddy is a quiet, quirky, artistic wee man with an offbeat sense of humour. He’s not a man for the chattin’ but instead shows his love by doing things for you. He’s kind, thoughtful and generous and that is more than an amazing dad for me :-)
I’d like to nominate my husband, it amazes me to see what a wonderful dad he is. This is his first Father’s Day and we had our wedding reception in Fallon and Byrne, so it’s all very fitting! :)
My dad is the best and the kids adore him
My Dad is amazing – he does absolutely everything for my family while working every single day. He’s a chauffeur, a seamstress, a hair stylist, a cleaner, a handyman, a gardener, a babysitter, a decorator, a personal assistant, a mechanic, a therapist and a best friend.
He’s also an amazing cook and loves it but never gets a chance to get into the kitchen – I feel so guilty serving him oven chips and sausages every day!
At family get togethers it’s Dad that cooks for us all… this would be a real treat for him!
a great supporter of local GAA, and a fan of a nice glass of red wine.
My Dad reminds me of that old Dime Bar add with the armadillo. “Hard on the outside, soft on the inside”. He has a hard outer shell, never shows affection towards my boyfriend, even though I can see in his eyes that he is proud of my choice and is looking forward to the future as much as we are. He playfully slags me all of the time and admittedly that had result in tears once or twice throughout my teenage years. I might not talk to him as much I used to, but I know he is the one person who will wipe my tears and take my side when the whole world is against me. I love my dad.
My dad and I danced to the song Through the Years at my wedding reception, and while it is a testament to lasting love, I also thought is was the perfect father-daughter song. Through the years, he never let me down and turned my world around! I am so glad he was always there for me through the years- and hopefully through many more!
I love spending time with my father, whether it is going to a football match, playing video games, doing DIY, or just hanging out. He is a great dad and a great friend!
My Dad is the best. When I was little he used to take me to library, chase away the spiders, check outside my window and in my wardrobe for robbers and monsters and walk me to school every day. And even now he’s still always there for me – never too busy to collect me from the train station, put up some shelves for me or take me for a driving lesson. Thanks Dad, you’re awesome!
My Dad is someone that I have come to love and appreciate deeply with each passing year. From mending my car, putting in my central heating and always making sure that he attended my children’s school plays I will be eternally grateful.
I love him the bottom of my heart and I feel so privileged that I have been put on this earth as his daughter.
I love you Dad and you mean the world to me!
Love
Sandra
X
My dad is a mans man, He my not have said how much he cares in words but I am under no illusion that that he really cares for us all by the little things he does for us even still, and especially the little things he does for his grandchildren!
If my father were a wine, he would be a superb vintage (1936); dry, yet mellow, rounded, complex with depth and just great with company!
An example of how to be a man, and an inspiration as to what’s right and wrong
My Dad is the best Dad in the world! :)
I would love to nominate my dad as he is an amzing cook and would really love this for fathers day!
My dad is a great influence in my life and always willing to drop everything at the drop of a hat to help me. He would love this prize so much as he loves to cook.
My dad is a great dad, sometimes moody but he’s alright
I love my dad so much and try to call him everyday. He is very old school but he tries to be modern too
My dad is a strong, sure person who thinks he’s Keats right but is often wrong. I just pretend he’s always right now but when I was a teenager I let him know every time
What can I say about my dad. He is always there when I need him, slips me a few euro when I need it, gets my car fixed so I don’t get ripped off, tells it how it is and don’t sugar coat anything but he is the best
He is a great dad but can never remember our birthdays, mams wedding anniversary, gives other people money to pick out presents from him but I know he cares so much.
My Dad is the best of all, a real inspiration to me.
My dad is the best ever. For my 21st birthday there was a knock on the door I open it and its my Dad grinning next to this HUMONGOUS box. Since it’s big and heavy, he tells me to open it right there.
I open up the top and almost die of a heart attack because inside is my best friend Aoife!
My thoughtful, incredible, super AWESOME Dad flew her down from London (where she moved with her family 5 years previous) for my birthday celebrations :)
My Dad is amazing, and he’d love this prize. x
My dad is brilliant. We recently built a new house and its incredible the number of long hours he put in helping us. He made sure everything was done to the highest standard and given us the beautiful house we now have.
My son and his Dad are very close and were a great help yesterday as we had visitors calling to the house. As the weather was so changeable they cleaned up the Conservatory transformed the room to a lovely dining area. The shopping was done and a steak was barbequed followed by strawberries and cream. My husband is a brilliant Dad and my son is following in his footsteps
My Dad once punched Chuck Norris in the crotch!
My Dad was always there for me , with me, teaching me patiently, explaining things when I was frightened, lifting the terrifying ‘daddy long legs’ out of my bedroom, checking under the beds at night so noone would get me and when I became a Mom & money was so tight he would slip me money for that special dress – alas he is now gone but I would love to share this hamper with my son who is now a Dad and dealing with a major change in his life.
Thank you Dad for a lifetime of being there – From our first toy car to the real thing when I hit 21, you reached deep into your pockets… Now payback time has arrived- thank you Wyndham Estate, Sourgrapes.ie and Fallon & Byrne!
My dad is my hero.
My dad is deadly- not only does he bring me to every GAA match with him (and manages to embarrass me greatly with his shouting) but he solves any problem I have :)
My dad is simply the best
My dad is great. He is what I hope every dad should be, strong, hard working, reliable, caring and he’s my dad
Sadly I never knew my dad, but my mum was a mum, dad and best friend in one and still is!! Therefore i would love to go against the grain and win this for her as she deserves something nice on both mothers day AND fathers day !!
My Dad is one in a million, after losing Mam to a crappy disease and caring for me and my brothers, he is looking out for all of us 15 years on!
My dad’s okay, after a while.
My dad teaches me all the stuff I do and don’t want to know.
My dads a legend. I want to win!
Arent we all daddys little girls not matter what age we are. He is such a foodie and would love the prize
My dad has helped me through one of the worst years of my life and now he’s become a grandad he’s walking on cloud 9, keeps saying “come over here to Daddy” to my son, think he’s reliving his fatherhood!
I’d actually like to talk about my childerns dad, my husband and how amazing he is, he’s such a modern dad, goes shopping, does housework and goes to work, has lots of time for my girls and me and makes us feel like Royalty, he loves great food and has great taste :), I’d love to treat him with such an amazing prize.
I want to nominate my son’s dad (my hubby) as he cooks dinner every single day! def deserves the hamper!!
My dad is one in a million. I have him to thank for my happiness today. He encouraged and adviced me throughout my life. He was and still is completely selfless when it comes to myself and my five sisters. I love him to bits. Thanks Dad.
My dad might not be the best man in the world.but to me he is the best man in my world.. even in his advanced years, when things are going wrong for me and all seems lost, resorting to sitting with my dad and telling him my problem ,And after careful contemplation he always gives me good advice and puts me back on the right track.
My father is my hero, not because he was a great prize winning runner or probably the funniest man alive when he tells ghost stories , he’s my hero because he was and still is a hard working man who kept my mother, myself, my brothers and sister so well looked after, the best father anyone could ever ask for.
When my mother passed away due to cancer my father took on all the extra duties to run the house, admittedly his cooking was pretty awful initially but as time went on i can say he makes a damn good dinner now!
Now lately his own father, my grandad passed on he looks after my grandmother and makes sure she has all she needs, thinking of other people yet again.
Many times when i felt life was hard i thought of my dad, and that helped me push through. I’m not sure if it’s a usual thing for a child to be as proud of their dad as i am but i don’t really care he’s an amazing man, and i love you dad.
It still amazes me how one memory can remain with you for the rest of your life. The day my dad cried like a baby, after the death of my mum, will remain in my heart forever.
Mum had been ravaged with cancer for years. Rather than crumble, my dad bravely embraced the role of her constant carer. Without him, she would have died years earlier. As she rapidly deteriorated and became confined to a wheelchair, unable to cope on her own, he gave her a renewed hope and a will to live.
He was her saving grace, her angel from heaven. Day after day he loved her; when she got too heavy to be lifted – he carried her, when she could no longer turn in her bed – he turned her, when she was no longer aware who he was – he reminded her.
The day when she shut her eyes for the last time, part of my dad died with her. I will never forget the poignant vision of him as he just collapsed in sobs, his once whole heart, now shattered into a million pieces. He cried uncontrollably for what seemed like an eternity, broken, inconsolable, destroyed. The sharp, raw ache has now dulled a little but we will never stop missing her.
My Dad taught me the meaning and depth of true, eternal love that can transcend even the cruellest of life’s traumas. Marriage can last a life time. He cherished every moment with mum. Never raised his voice to her and always held her like his high school sweetheart.
In a world of tortured lives, fractured families, fallen heroes, corrupt leaders and moral decay…I have found a man who is pure in heart…. …I call him Dad and the bond between us is unbreakable.
Dad is dad – always there kind and generous
My Da is funny, he once wore my rainbow socks – for 3 days!
My Dad was away a lot, worked on ships, but he gave me a great sense of independance, work ethic, his favorite saying being “if a job is worth doing, its worth doing well”! he became a father figure to my daughter (no dad in the picture) and i love him so much more for that than anything else. She has grown up well balanced and rounded and a great girl because of him so thank you Dad. A gentleman, a sensitive man, and a grandad, and soon to walk me up the aisle…… I cant wait Dad. x
I can’t even begin to convey how much we love our Dad. I’m away from home 8 months of the year, I think I call him or vice versa at least once if not three times a day. Our house is sometimes hard for people to understand, as we pretty freely joke around about those taboo subjects with Dad. He’s always been completely accepting of anything and everything we want to do, and will bend over backwards if he can do something to help.
I bring him to my foodie events as some of the commenters here will know, he drives me halfway around the country to pick up a special side of beef, or some ingredient we can’t find here. I’ll never get over how much he does for us..
His birthday is on Thursday, we’re going to spoil him rotten! But this would be so nice for fathers day too!
My Dad and I go to all the Meath GAA matches, it’s always good fun.
all our Dads are the best. We are all biased for our dad.. I love my Dad to bits and my father in law for that matter.. I would love to win this for both of these fantastic men.. I would also split it 3 ways, some for my Dad, some for my Father in law & some for my husband, dad to my 2 wonderful daughters…We can’t afford presents at all this year & we will probably just end up making cards etc. But this would be a fantastic bonus to make 3 amazing dads very very happy
My Dad is amazing & the best Dad there is I would love him to win this hamper on Father`s Day He really deserves it.
My Dad is the best words can not describe how good he is!!
My dad…. the greatest man in the world??? Well I’d like to think of him as a great man, and in my eye’s the greatest man. Whenever there is a problem – physical or emotional – he is there to support myself and sisters all the way. Everytime I see him, I say to myself what more could a daughter ask for. We are so lucky to have him, my da’
I couldn’t be without him.
He’s ok; I’d probably keep most of the hamper myself though. Nothing wrong with the usual few scratch cards on fathers day
Simply the best
My Dad seriously deserves this prize! I moved out of home 3 or 4 years ago and of course neither myself or my boyfriend can do so much as change a lightbulb! Dad has come and fixed doorknobs, changed plug sockets, sorted out faulty connections, painted, changed toilet seats, showed me how various appliances actually work…essentially everything since I moved away to gain soem “independence”. He just knows how to do all that stuff that I think most people in their 20s now havent a clue about! He adores nice coffees, choccies and wine but never treats himself so I would be so delighted to be able to give this to him on fathers day!
Everyone thinks their dad is the best and of course I think mine is – from his wise advice to his terrible jokes. And just for always being there.
Sadly my own dad passed away four years ago, now my new husband is about to be a daddy and im sure he’ll make a great one.
My dad travelled all the way from Australia to meet his grand daughter. Now that’s awesome.
My Dad would love this prize as he loves to cook but maybe I’ll be cooking for him on Fathers day with all these great goodies
My Dad would be delighted with this prize.
My dad is th best and always there when I need him
Never butting in but always there if you need a chat
My dad has 9 children and is a great dad. He went into hospital on Mothers Day this year and was inside for nearly 5 weeks where he underwent a bypass. I am happy to say he has made an incredible recovery. Although, he never drank, he enjoys an occasional glass of red wine. Here’s to Fathers Day 2011:)
My father is always there for all his children, he is the one person i can totally rely on.
My late father was a man would would drink a bowl of gazpacho as quickly as he’d eat a bowl of tripe and onions.
