The extremely talented Julia Kennedy has moved to pastures new and Edward Dillon & Co. are the lucky benefactors. She’s wasted no time in getting stuck in and the first of her big events is the Penfolds Winemaker Dinner at The Twelve Hotel, Galway on April 6th.
The Twelve Hotel take their wine rather seriously, having entered and won the Wine Spectator’s annual restaurant awards.
So, on Thursday, April 6th, Tom Portet, winemaker with legendary Australian winery Penfolds, will host the latest “Jazzed about Wine Dinners” at The Twelve Hotel.
The evening starts at 7.30pm with a structured tasting of wines from Penfolds iconic portfolio followed by a five course dinner.
Surely Penfolds needs little or no introduction. They are one of the true icons of Australian wine and they have a loyal following here in Ireland from the Kanooga hill, through the various “bins” all the way up to the revered Grange.
Tom comes Portet from 10 generations of winemakers and grew up in Victoria. He first learned his craft from his French father before stints in Bordeaux, Champagne and Napa Valley.
