With all the crappy wind and rain, my thoughts turned to summer. This time with an Albarino I picked up in Drinkstore (Stoneybatter).

Not satisfied with only trying three whites, I thought I’d take another three for a ride. Don’t worry, spittoon by my side, I remained sober as judge.
While still at Eno, a trio of Chardonnays caught my eye. Same grape, three different makers on three different continents. Spot the difference?

I’m generally shite on white, so I thought I’d check out some of the wine world’s fairer sex.
According to the Wikipedia entry on Châteauneuf-du-Pape, when Robert Parker, renowned wine writer, heaped praise on this southern Rhône red, its price went up 400% over 10 years. I’ve never seen one for less than around €20. Until now. I picked up one for €13. Too good to be true?

When it comes to white wine, I feel like an absolute novice. Why? I’ve invariably drank big reds over the years. I even tried to get into white wine last summer (once) but the weather was generally so shitty that I stuck to red. So, tonight with yet another “soft” night in Dublin, I thought I’d go soft with the weather and try some delicate whites from France. And what of the Air Jordans? Find out inside.

Last week, I bought a Beaujolais Nouveau, this week I’ve tried it. Most “Beau-Nou” I’ve read about over the last week hasn’t gone down too well, what about this one.

I spent an evening learning about and tasting really pricey wines from the Côte d’Or in Burgundy. In wine terms, this was the best €65 I’ve ever spent, getting to try 8 wines way way out of my price range.

Two world cup defeats. One Rainbow Warrior. New Zealand haven’t done well by the French. The biggest showdown between the two countries since RWC ’07 is a Pinot Noir taste-off. This time the New Zealanders are the underdogs. How will they fare?

While planning to cook one of my favourite meals (Mushroom Risotto, heavy on the parmesan and butter) this evening, I wanted to pick out a wine that would go well with it.
